B.Tech Information technology

The department of Information Technology was established in the year 2001. The department shares the vision and mission of the institution in providing a value-based education and to be a globally model institution. The department is managed by dedicated and experienced faculty. The department distinguishes itself by producing professionals to fit today’s requirements.

Accreditation

The B.Tech. Information Technology Department has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi.

Curriculum & Pedagogy:

Qualified faculty members who are assigned  various theory subjects prepare course plans using a standard format to deliver their lectures with suitable educational technology. The teaching faculty lay emphasis on the following,

Knowledge content and (topics in the curriculum) ands in the curriculum) and
Utility value (application in the real life)

The classroom session will be interactive which inspires the student’s creativity and could be supplemented by the student’s presentations and guest lectures by external/internal experts. High level of discipline and decorum is maintained inside the classroom.

Department Library

A separate library for the department is being maintained. The library holds around 700 books. Magazines and periodic journals are purchased for the technical updation of the students.

Assignment/ Mini Projects:

Students are motivated regularly to complete their assignment, mini projects and seminars. The content must be unique and original with creative ideas.

The Department laboratory consists of high configuration systems with high speed internet connection and printers. We have the following licensed softwares installed in our systems

Association Activities:

The Department association, ASSOIT is functioning efficiently for the benefit of the students. As an activity of ASSOIT, at least one guest lecture by an experienced personality is being conducted every month focusing on recent inventions and developments in the field. The guest lecture will be carried out in an interactive manner so as to clarify the doubts of the students.

The department staff members also participate in various workshops and international conferences every semester to prove their mettle individually and collectively.

To prove the excelTo prove the efficacy of the learners, Symposia are being  organized every year in which students from various colleges participate and  benefit themselves.

Training Programmes:

Oracle:

Staff members who were trained in Oracle Corporation help the students in learning Oracle and doing some certifications. A Campus Connect Programme has been signed with Oracle corporation.

Department Achievements:

Ms. M. Philomin Mary has got 25th Rank in Anna University –Chennaihennai, in the academic year 2007-2008.
Ms. Harini Mohan has got 50th Rank in Anna University –Chennai, in the academic year 2007-2008.
