Master of Business Administration

Department of Management Studies is a diverse community knit together by its physical environment as well as by its commitment to the highest standards of excellence, integrity, free expression, and inquiry. It provides management education to both fresh graduates seeking world-class management education and also to those who are already employed and want to enhance their managerial skills.

Master of Business Administration (full-time) is being offered since 2005 and has been approved by the AICTE. The Department of Management studies is known as research Department since, 2008. The department encourages the faculty and students to undertake projects with corporate world.

Curriculum

The MBA Program focuses on general management skills. Trimester pattern is followed. During the first year of the program, all the students are required to take the same course of study. The required curriculum includes, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Production Management, Managerial Economics, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship development, Disaster Management, Management Information Systems, Decision models in Business, Research Methods for Business, Organisational behavior, Principles of Management, Environmental management, International Business Management, etc.,. At the end of the Third trimester, all the MBA students have to undergo in-plant training in different companies to know the procedural routines followed in all functional areas of that company. This training makes the students to gain more practical knowledge on their respective field.

During the second year of study, students can choose from a wide range of curriculums that span all aspects of business such as Marketing, Human resources, Finance, Systems, Production, etc, At the Sixth trimester Final year MBA students have to undergo projects in their elective subjects for duration of 03 months.

FACILITIES
Computer Facilities

The department consists of a well-equipped Computer Lab, with state of the art computers. A vast array of specialized package like SAP B-one, Tally, ORACLE, MS-OFFICE, SPSS, TORA, etc. are available.

Library Facilities

The department has its own library well stacked with 850 Management books,30 journals and 4 newspapers covering the various functional areas of management. Besides it, the department has access to International E-Journal access to Science-direct, El-Seiver, Springerlink, Ebsco, Jstor , etc.

Association Activities PEARL (Paavai Executives Association for Rejuvenation of Leadership)

A Management Association, was established for the purpose of shaping and molding the budding managers in all managerial aspects.

E-Cell (Entrepreneurship cell)

In E-Cell, ideas are converted into real time projects with the guidance given by the faculty members. The students are encouraged to present their projects in the exhibition conducted by E-Cell and established Entrepreneurs are invited to view the products. Students get spot orders depending on the product and the requirement.

MMA Student's Chapter

Madras Management Association(MMA) conducts meeting with all the MMA members on a regular basis for a better relationship among the members. The chapter is active with regular guest lectures.

RMC (Resource Management Cell)

The aim of having this cell is to create awareness among the general public for optimum utilization of available limited resources.

HR Cell (Human Resource Cell)

Students are specially trained in all aspects of Human Resources and they are also encouraged to practice in college regarding training skills by way of training the engineering students for their placements.

Marketing Cell

The objective of this cell is to educate the students in all aspects of marketing and also to implement it with the help of their E-cell where the marketing is needed for the products of our entrepreneurs. So in this cell, students create advertisements and also carry out some promotional activities

Finance Cell

The purpose of this cell is to educate the students in all aspects of Finance and Accounting and to implement it with the help of their E-cell where the finance is essential for all operations of an entrepreneur. So in this cell, students are encouraged to frame capital budgeting, capital market analysis, project proposals & other modes of financial consultancy services.

Training Programmes

There are training programmes conducted for the students for the development of their soft skills such as Communication skills, Leadership skills, Motivation skills and Team building skills, etc.,.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
  • MBA Department conducted an International Conference on Innovative Practices in Management on 31st December 2009

The staff have participated in many conferences and they have also published number of papers at International and National level.

The students are encouraged to participate in competitions and conferences to express their talents and have also won prizes. The passed out students are placed in MNCs & Government Sectors. Recently a final year student,Shamnad, participated in a debate and competed with IIM, IIT students and he came second best in the competition.
